Half Sick/Hugo

Just finished both of these books and loved them both.  I'm Half Sick of Shadows is the 4th book in a series (The Sweetness at the Bottow of the Pie being the first).  It wasn't as funny as book 1 or 3 but it was still a good book with a good mystery. You can't help but love the main character, Flavia--an 11 year old who has a great interest in poisons!

The Invention of Hugo Cabret was excellent.  It's a very unique novel written in half words and half pictures.  It deserved the Caldecott award for sure.  I can't tell you much about it or I'll ruin the story. Happy reading!
