This book was written in the 70's by a man who died before he could finish writing it (his wife and children finished it for him). Ann thinks she's the last human survivor of a nuclear war but she finds out that she's wrong. She ends up wishing she were the last human alive!
Robert O'Brien, (like Connie Willis) is very much into detailed descriptions of equipment, which slows me down a bit. However, the story really makes you think and I loved the unpredictable it ending.
