Ender's Game vs. Gathering Blue

I really disliked Ender's Game because of the language and violence.  I thought the idea of a futurisic society with kids as the heroes was interesting, however.  I would recommend, Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry if you are looking for a futuristic story.  This is a companion book to, The Giver.  Kira is a talented needleworker and must use her talents to help the government.  She is assigned to fix the Singer's robe, which tells the history of the world. It is thought provoking, sad, but filled with hope.
